Exploration: Body Mappings

Overview
The Body Mapping project is a student led research project looking at identity and body image. The students, which were formed of six year 10 (aged 14-15 yrs) textile artists, led a project that opened up a visceral conversation around bodies and body image with a group of yr 8 (aged 12-13 yrs) students.

Debate Cake - the Materiality of the Beauty Industry
The project evolved over three events:
 - Hair by Hood - Alix Bizet, artist in resident at the Design Museum, led a project exploring hair as a matter to discuss identity
 - Body mapping - a research project inspired by Alix Bizet's Hair by Hood led by six yr 10 students
 - Debate Cake - a session led by researcher Louise Rondel on the material agency of the beauty industry
