Shed skins
During the process of this project I have explored the skin. This evolved into a practice of glue skinning, a different form of life drawing. Over the last eight years I have made glue skins as I write up the research into a thesis. These glue skins are a physical reminder of the liveliness of the skin, the material qualities of the skin as it sheds, scars and wrinkles. Each one unique physical biography of our lives, a series of mini life drawings. The following images are scans of (most) of the glue skins I have made on this journey. They also include skins from people who have also joined me in this practice, students from HGAED, participants at lectures and talks and visitors to exhibitions. These skins are therefore more-than me, they form a collaborative skin, a process that is hopeful and moves beyond set binaries of colonial narratives.
