Supporting research
Supporting creative academic research projects
Overview
As part of the aims of the CCE we aim to bring students, academics and/or artists together to explore issues that are relevant to the context of the school and the students.
The various research projects we have supported so far are seen below. Click on the images above to explore each project further.
In return for supporting research projects we ask three things of academics, artists and/or researchers:
1. That time given to support students in understanding the role of the researcher, how they got into the position they did, and what the research process is that they are a part of. We want students to feel integral to a process and that they have agency within it. The aim is that by collaborating with academics students can gain an understanding of what research looks like and how such processes can have an impact, locally, nationally or internationally.
2. We encourage students who are interested in collaborating with researchers to extend their experience with back into the school and develop their own projects inspired by the experience. Although this does not involve the researcher, we ask them to bear this in mind, and that either before or after they complete the research, they break down what they have been exploring and some of the main themes that have emerged so students can start to think more critically about their experience and how they could develop their own project.
3. We ask that when the research is completed the main findings are shared back with the CCE and the students. Links to papers, books, artwork etc, are shared to be uploaded onto the CCE website. We feel it is important for students to see where their contributions end up, this is also to share with other students so they can understand the process and how creative research feeds into the school and wider sociological/educational/political context.
